Boxing Promotes, which is owned by the Las Vegas Sands Corp., beat WBA lightweight champion Marcos Maidana and WBA welterweight champion Mikey Garcia in a unification bout Saturday night, and the bout was headlined by a super middleweight title eliminator.

The winner of the bout, which took place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, will take on former titleholder Sergey Kovalev.

In a fight of the year contender, Maidana beat Maidana by split decision in a 12-round decision, giving Maidana a one-decade record.

He then defeated the former Olympian by split-decision in a seven-round unanimous decision.

Maidana defeated Garcia by unanimous decision in their WBA featherweight championship bout in September, and Garcia defeated Maidana in the same contest by split decisions.

The two fighters face off again on March 31 in a rematch.

Muguruza, who won the vacant WBA middleweight crown from Maidana last December, also defended the title against Maidana.

He knocked out Kovalevs in September.

Garcia, who was scheduled to defend his belt in May against another unbeaten contender, is currently fighting for his title against Russian Ruslan Provodnikov, who has won the WBA title twice.

Mamazuki Chiba (32-1, 22KOs) stopped Juan Manuel Lopez in six rounds.

Miguel Martinez (27-2, 17KOs), who has been undefeated since he was 19 years old, was scheduled for the title shot.
