Kentucky’s Lottery has paid out a $1,000 prize to two winning Kentucky basketball players after their winning shot on Saturday night was called back.
The winning shot, a 3-pointer from Marquis Teague, was made by a guard named Austin Cobb, a 6-foot-7 guard from the University of Kentucky, in the final seconds of the Wildcats game against North Carolina State.
Kentucky’s coach John Calipari said he called the timeout before the shot, and Cobb went for it.
The winner, Austin Cobb Jr., scored 16 points.
After the game, Cobb was quoted by WKYT as saying, “We were pretty excited to win the game and I’m just happy to get the win.”
Kentucky won by a score of 94-91.
