Hoosiers are taking advantage of the $5.2 million payout that Indiana has been able to make from its lottery win in the past couple of years.
The state lottery said Monday that winners of its lottery will receive $5,935,827 in cash and $1,000 in the form of a $1 gift card.
It also said it has awarded nearly $10 million in other prizes to Indiana families, which include $1 million in scholarships and scholarships to help pay for college and other education expenses.
“These families and their children deserve to be able to enjoy the opportunity to play in a winning lottery, while still getting a portion of the proceeds,” said lottery commissioner Ken Duchatelet.
A family of three from Indiana won $2,000 each.
That’s about the same as the $3,000 award to the winners of the winning lottery in 2016.
A couple from New York won $1.3 million each, and a couple from Florida won $850,000.
