The Golden State Warriors have had one of the NBA’s best seasons in a decade, but they still have the NBA lottery to go up against the Houston Rockets in the first round.

The Warriors were a lock to be a No. 1 seed in the Western Conference for a fifth straight season last season.

The Lakers, however, made it to the Finals in 2017-18 and won the NBA title.

    Here’s how they did it.

What was the Golden State Golden State’s best team?

This year’s Golden State team is a lot different than its predecessor.

In 2016-17, the Warriors were built around one of their top scorers in Harrison Barnes.

Barnes averaged 29.8 points per game while shooting 43.4 percent from the field and 38.2 percent from 3-point range.

He led the league in assists (1,844) and steals (1) as well as finished second in total points scored (10,619) and third in steals (7).

The Warriors finished sixth in the league with a 29-9 record.

Harrison Barnes has averaged 25.8 per game since his breakout season with the Warriors in 2017.

    What about Russell Westbrook?

Westbrook is coming off a season in which he was a league-best 21-of-31 from the floor and finished second with a career-high 27.8 rebounds per game.

The former Oklahoma City Thunder star was able to win MVP honors last season, and the Warriors’ team has been better in the playoffs with him on the court.

He has averaged 28.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.6 rebounds in four games.

The Cavaliers are still waiting for the MVP to be awarded, but LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love are all considered locks for the trophy.

    What’s next for the Warriors?

The Warriors play the Lakers in the second round on Friday.

Houston hosts the Oklahoma City Lakers on Saturday.
